DesignMarch festival brings together participants and guests with progressive design and innovation. The festival heralds new and surprising approaches and is a vibrant platform for ideas, diverse perspectives and knowledge driving force that enriches and enhances society.
DesignMarch 2025 will take place on 2. – 6. April.
DesignMarch 2024 had a circus theme – Where chaos is the norm and the balancing act is art. The current status of the world was reflected in the circus and everything turned upside down with joy, curiosity and courage!
Designers, architects and creative thinkers pushed the boundaries of the possible with exciting exhibitions, events, workshops, guided tours and openings all over town during DesignMarch. Playing with materials, the interactivity of nature and technology, the use of discarded raw materials and new creative solutions for society are among the things that saw the light of day.
The festival’s signature event, the international conference DesignTalks kicked it all off on Wednesday April 24th in Harpa. This time around addressing global imbalances and extremes. In the current cosmic chaos, balance is sought with the mindset of the creative adventurer, and a dash of the laissez-faire attitude of the ropedancer, bravely making his way to land. In the circus ring ideas are kept in the air, genius is fiery and flying is high! !
The festival will kicked off at the opening ceremony of DesignMarch in Hafnarhúsið and spread throughout the city for the next 5 days. This year’s DesignMarch programme included over 100 exhibitions, 200 events and 400 participants.
The DesignMarch festival gives inspiration and enjoyment with the aim to share the exhibitions, participants and their content to a broader audience, both in Iceland and abroad, in collaboration with other stakeholders, such as Business Iceland.
DesignMarch is a harbinger of optimism and creativity. The festival takes the opportunity to focus on design as a driving force for innovation, and demonstrate the important role of design, architecture and innovation in society, especially during this time of uncertainty the world is facing now.
